You do get some benefits with this approach - like that the fidelity is kept even when user zooms in (like on a phone/pad). But it&#039;s hardly something that will improve performance.

There&#039;s the extra download of the font (an additional request) and it&#039;s a whopping 32kb. Put those images in a CSS sprite or better yet: Base64 encode them and include them in the stylesheet = NO extra request and maybe what? 10kb in filesize.


Nice, creative work. But it&#039;s not the best performance enhancer.
